Beautiful handmade textiles deserve proper care. Our pieces are dyed with natural pigments and hand-printed on natural cottons: a few simple steps are enough to preserve their vibrancy and softness for a long time. Here's our guide.
Before the first wash: what you need to know
Because they are made with natural materials and plant-based dyes, our fabrics are living. It is normal for a new item to release a slight excess of pigment during the first few washes, and for natural cotton to experience very slight shrinkage: this is the mark of an authentic, chemically untreated textile. A few precautions can help you manage this.
Our washing tips
- Wash at a maximum of 30 °C, on a delicate cycle.
- Separate for the first few times: wash colored items separately, with similar shades.
- Opt for a mild detergent, without bleaching agents or bleach — these alter natural pigments.
- Close duvet covers and pillowcases before washing to protect the finishes.
- Avoid prolonged soaking, which can cause colors to bleed.
Drying and ironing
- Prefer air drying in the shade: direct sunlight can dull natural shades.
- Avoid tumble drying, or use it on a low temperature to limit cotton shrinkage.
- Iron inside out, at a medium temperature, while the fabric is still slightly damp.
Pieces that develop a patina, and that's a good thing
With time, a block print textile doesn't wear out: it develops a patina. Colors soften, the material becomes more supple, and each piece tells a little more of your story. It's the opposite of disposable — an item you keep, that you pass down.
